Disney has unleashed the first trailer for Lucasfilm’s upcoming live-action series Star Wars: Ahsoka, and this show looks like it’s going to be freakin’ incredible! This trailer is absolutely stunning, and I’m overwhelmed with excitement right now! The trailer premiered at Star Wars Celebration today, which I wish I was at, and you can bet that fans at the event went wild over this trailer!

The series is set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka “follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.”

Ahsoka and Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) are on the hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn in hopes that it will lead them to find the lost Ezra Bridger, the young Jedi who disappeared with Thrawn many years ago. The series directly follows up on several threads from the animated series Star Wars Rebels.

The footage also confirms that Mary Elizabeth Winstead is playing Hera Syndulla, and the droid, Chopper, is also back. We even get our first glimpse at Grand Admiral Thrawn and the trailer teases the whole “Heir to the Empire,” thing which was an overt nod to Timothy Zahn’s iconic Extended Universe novels.

The series also stars Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Ivanna Sakhno, Eman Esfandi as Ezra, and Ray Stevenson. The limited series is written by Dave Filoni who executive produces along with Jon Favreau and Kathleen Kennedy.

The series will debut exclusively on Disney+ in August 2023.
